Micro-Macro Illustration
Students were tasked with creating a family of four icons that retain legibility when applied on a very small scale (1/4 inch max). After identifying an appropriate concept (cell phone, microwave oven, etc.) students then decided on a concept for a family and its application.
Using the preliminary drawings, students re-created their icons in Illustrator using precise measurements and efficient pen tool methods to create smooth Beziér curves. Icons were then imported into Photoshop and their attributes manipulated to make convincing, realistic images of the icons in use.
