Patrick Schreiber is currently an Associate Professor of Communication Design with Tenure at the University of Cincinnati | Blue Ash College in the Applied Graphic Communication Design program where he has been teaching courses in graphic design and typography since 2006.
He has been practicing and teaching in the field for over 20 years and has taught previously at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) in the Graphic Design, Digital Design and Foundations Departments as a Visiting Assistant Professor, also as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the College of Mount St. Joseph. He was a principal of the design collaborative ‘Firehouse Design Team’ and has worked in a variety of design and management positions within the industry.
He has served on the Board of Directors as President of AIGA Cincinnati (American Institute of Graphic Arts) and later elected to the AIGA National Design Educators Steering Committee. Serving as the Faculty Advisor, he is responsible for developing the AIGA Student Groups at both of the University of Cincinnati’s College of DAAP and Blue Ash College. His work in the field of graphic design is mainly from the private industry sector drawing on his interest in typography, book and publication design, and includes a variety of print, web and environmental display projects. In 2008, in coordination with the AIGA Center for Cross-Cultural Design (AIGA | XCD), Professor Schreiber was selected as one of nine designers from across the United States to participate in a poster exhibition and cultural exchange program in Havana, Cuba.
Professor Schreiber earned his BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in Communication Design, a MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University and participated in Post Graduate Studies at the Allgemeine Gewerbeschule, Schule für Gestaltung’s Weiterbildungsklasse für Grafik (advanced class) in Basel, Switzerland.
